X-ray micro-tomography images can serve as the input for the computation of effective diffusivity of species in particle pores. Here we report our experience with Micro-CT attachment for SEM from SkyScan company. We critically investigate, how ambiguousis the whole processes starting with X ray tomography and resulting with binarized phase function and calculated transport properties of the sample. More specifically, we are concerned with the sensitivity to personal selection of various parameters adjusted in the reconstruction process. We propose and test several types of morphological descriptors, such as distance transform and lineal-path distribution, to systematically characterize porous polyolefin particles. We are trying to statistically determine the most suitable descriptors and criteria, whether the particle is morphologically similar to other particles in the same pre-sieved fraction or not.
