Original language description
The goal of this study is to demonstrate the application of inverse gas chromatography (iGC) in the characterization of polymer particle morphology and the estimation of penetrant transport in porous polyolefine particles. Standard theories of iGC consider only diffusion and adsorption inside porous particles. In our case the theory of iGC has to be extended about the diffusion of penetrants taking place both in particle pores and in particle polymer phase. Moreover, our capability to perform iGC measurements at various pressures proved to be valuable, because the diffusivity is inversely proportional to pressure. We introduce our experimental apparatus allowing the measurements in the long thermostated columns at temperature up to 120 ?C and pressureup to 12 bar. A new model describing dispersion in porous particles is developed, because some penetrants diffuse not only through particle pores, but also through particle polymer phase.
