Measuring of transport characteristics of porous polyolefine particles by inverse gas chromatography

  • Original language description

Inverse gas chromatography (iGC) is an extension of conventional gas chromatography in which a non-volatile material is immobilized in the column. The term ?inverse? indicates that the stationary phase is under investigation in contrast to conventional gas chromatography. This stationary phase is then characterized from the outgoing peak profile monitoring. The sampling gas of known properties is carried through the column via an inert gas. The experimental set up we built recently in our laboratory isable to measure the transport properties of penetrants in porous solid particles at various temperatures (up to 120°C) and pressures (up to 1.2MPa). The experimental data are processed by the method of moments and are organized in the van Deemter plot. Transport in porous PE particles is complicated by the fact that the gaseous penetrant diffuses not only in particle pores, but also in polymer matrix. Thus the evaluation of transport characteristics is more complex than in the case of po
