CHARACTERIZATION OF HETERO-PHASE POLYMERS BY TD-NMR
Original language description
This contribution briefly describes the basics of TD-NMR theory and measurement principles. Individual experimental procedures together with outlines of the data evaluation are also presented. As we are utilizing TD-NMR for polymer studies, we further present some of the possible applications on polymers. Amongst these are polymer crystalinity estimation, crystalline and amorphous domain size estimation by the spin-diffusion techniques, studying sorption of solvents into polymers, diffusion coefficientestimation or studying structural changes with temperature (e.g. polymer softening). TD-NMR also allows a relatively complex insight into high-impact polyolefins (copolymers) as data both on copolymer content and morphology (domain sizes and interfacialarea) can be obtained. As our laboratory includes an AFM spectrometer, we can also compare the TD-NMR and AFM results for high impact polyolefins.
