Optimization methods for design of a system of catalytic converters
Original language description
Modern exhaust gas aftertreatment system consists of multiple catalytic reactors. Each of the catalytic reactors contains a catalytic washcoat, which is a thin layer of a noble metal (usually Pt, Pd and Rh). The cost of the reactor is approximately proportional to the reactor volume. Industrial optimization problems usually have a high number of degrees of freedom, such as reactor size, noble metal loading, washcoat distribution, reactor arrangements etc. Using optimization methods one can nd the best suitable values of the mentioned parameters while minimizing design cost and resource consumption.
