Impedance-stabilized positive corona discharge and its decontamination properties
Original language description
The point-to-plane DC corona discharge in air at atmospheric pressure was stabilized by the serially connected ballast impedance. The ballast impedance was realized by the parallel connection of resistor?capacitor. In the case of connection of the serialimpedance into the electric circuit of the negative corona, the transition into the spark becomes at very similar parameters of the discharge like in the non-stabilized case. Otherwise, in the case of positive corona, the discharge did not transit intothe spark, but into a regime of periodic streamers. Consequently the bactericidal effects of stabilized discharge were measured. The experiments show, that after 2 minutes of exposition the quantity of surviving bacteria decreases from 95% for non-stabilized discharge up to 5% for stabilized one.
