Original language description
We developed a mathematical model describing a bio?ltration process in a trickle-bed reactor for textile wastewater decolorization. With the use of several assumptions, the model predicts both the behavior of experimental bioreactors and bio?lm growth. The bio?lm is formed by a mycelium of a ?lamentous fungus. In the model, it is described as a thin ?lm made of the fungus hyphae surrounded by extracellular polymeric substances. The two-dimensional model is based on the continuum approach using the massbalances of substances in a bio?lm and in a trickling liquid ?lm.
