Mathematical modeling of traveling wave micropumps: Analysis of energy transformation
Original language description
AC electroosmotic micropumps are a promissing alternative for the transport of electrolytes at the micro- and nanoscale. Experiments conducted in our laboratory did not produced a measurable electroosmotic flow. Analysis of the results of mathematical model based on the combination of the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations, local balances of components and the Gauss law of electrostatics suggets that an effective use of the AC electroosmotic micropumps requires the microstructures with characteristic length below one micrometer.
