Alcohol - water mixtures on hydrophobic surfaces
Original language description
The project was focused on experimental study of wettability of simple alcohols on strongly hydrophobic surface. The mutual connection between liquid surface tension and contact angle was studied and the obtained data were compared with a testing set oforganic liquids. The significant differences in contact angles for organic liquids and alcohol-water solutions with identical surface tension were observed. The analysis of possible reasons was done. The cross-association between water and alcohol in bulk liquid and following cluster formation is the most probable reason why the wettability of the surface using aqueous solutions of simple alcohols is lower than that using organic pure compounds.
