Volumetric mass transfer coefficient in the stirred tank reactor equipped by Rushton turbines of various diameters in a slightly viscous batch.
Original language description
Mass transfer processes are emerging through the whole industry world from biobased, chemical to the food industry. The volumetric mass transfer coefficient, kLa, becomes an essential parameter for the processes with the gas-liquid mass transfer rate as the controlling factor. The most common way how to predict the volumetric mass transfer coefficient is based on empirical correlations. The applicability of the correlations for scale-up and industrial design and optimization is, however, often limited by way of their development. For instance, some of the correlations were established for only one specific geometry of the system or using the kLa data distorted by an inappropriate measurement technique.
