Separation and Analysis of the Musical Signal Noise Components
Original language description
The process of analysis of noise components in musical instrument sound is shown in the example of violin tone played by the musician. Two basic models of the signal with harmonic and noise components are presented. The first model, called additive model, considers the signal as a sum of noise and set of stable harmonic components. The second one, called modulation model, considers intentional frequency and/or amplitude modulation of the harmonics. Two different methods for noise extraction were applied- harmonic components filtration using the comb filter (for additive model) and the application of the McAuly-Quatieri analysis (for modulation model).
