Original language description
The publication provides reflections two Čapek´s plays - R.U.R. and The White Plague from different points of view and the vantage point of up to a century. The first section contains eleven scholarly papers dedicated to the theatrical and historiographical presentation of the stagings, translation and reception of these texts in the interwar and post-war periods. The second section offers a contemporary view on both plays, which are still reaching today´s stages. My chapter is a part of this second section of the publication and reflects our staging of R.U.R. by our theatre ensemble Buchty a loutky (Cakes and Puppets), an online opening performance in November 2020. The production was created on the occasion of the robot's 100th birthday.
