New Carbons Made by Soft Chemistry.
Original language description
Conventional methods of producing carbons, both on laboratory and industrial scales, often rely on processes occurring at extreme temperatures and/or pressures. On the other hand, 'soft chemistry' (chimie douce) applies mild conditions, typically room temperature and pressure. Soft-chemical conversion of suitable precursors into elemental carbon may be thermodynamically very favored, although the kinetic barrier is usually also high.
