Electron Attachment to the Gas Phase DNA Bases Cytosine and Thymine

Result description

We present a detailed study on dissociative electron attachment (DEA) to isolated gas phase cytosine(C) and thymine (T). The experimental setup used for these measurement is a crossed electro/neutral beam instrument combined with a quadrupole mass spectrometer. Electron attachment to these biomolecules leads to dissociation into various fragment without no hint of any measurable amount of stable C or T parent anions. The fragment anions of highest abundance are (C-H)- and (T-H)-, respectively. Quantum-chemical calculations were performed to calculate the electron affinities and binding energies of the different isomers of the (T-H) fragment.

Připojení elektronu k DNA bázím cytosin a thymin v plynné fázi

  • Czech description

Prezentujeme zde detailní studii disociativního připojení elektronu k isolovaným molekulám cytosinu (C) a thyminu (T) v plynné fázi. Nejvyšší výskyt přitom vykazují anionické fragmenty C-H a T-H. Byly provedeny kvantově chemické výpočty elektronových afinit a vazebnýchenergií jednotlivých C-H a T-H isomerů. Mimo C-H a T-H jsme pozorovali I dalších pět anionických fragmentů cytosinu a osm fragmentů thyminu.
