Ferrierite and MCM-22 for the CO2 adsorption

  • Original language description

The post-synthesis modification of Ferrierite (FER, Si/Al = 8.7) and MCM-22 (MWW, Si/Al = 15) zeolites was carried out by ion-exchahge to obtain Li+, Na+, K+ and Cs+ forms of these zeolites with different degrees of exchange. All samples were characterized using XRD, chemical analysis and nitrogen adsorption. The carbon dioxide adsorption capacity of the alkali cation-exchanged Ferrierite and MCM-22 zeolites depends significantly on the nature and the CO2 adsorption of the charge compensating cations. The highest CO2 loading was always obtained for the K+ form and the lowest one for the Cs+ version.
