    The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of 14methyl-substituted acetophenones and 14 methyl-substituted methyl benzoates were interpreted with respect to the conformation of the Car-C(O) bond. The substituent effects are divided into polar and steric. The steric effects not depend on the angle of torsion of the functional group as anticipated hitherto. The J(C,C) coupling constants were measured for three acetophenone derivatives labeled with 13C in the acetyl methyl group

    1H a 13C NMR spektra čtrnácti methyl-substituovaných acetofenonů a čtrnácti stejně substituovaných methyl benzoátů byla interpretována s ohledem na konformaci na vazbě Car-C(O). Substituční efekty byly rozděleny na polární a sterické. Sterické efekty nezávisejí na torzním úhlu funkční skupiny, jak bylo dosud předpokládáno. Interakční konstanty J(C,C) byly měřeny u tří derivátů acetofenonu označených isotopem 13C v methylové skupině acetylu
