Symbiotic nitrogen fixation, as carried out by nodule bacteria in the roots of legume plants, is a preferable nitrogen source for agricultural systems, both for the ecological and economical reasons. Therefore, a pea line isogenic to the Czech export cultivar "Bohatýr" has been developed that forms solely inefficient symbiotic nodules. The new line enables for determining the contribution of symbiotically acquired nitrogen to the yield by a simple comparison of two experimental plots (difference technique). In the course of the search for a suitable mutation, another set of pea symbiotic mutants has been generated, which probably represents the sixth collection reported (after the collections obtained by the research institutions in the Netherlands, USA, France, Denmark, and Russia)

Czech description

Symbiotická fixace dusíku prováděná hlízkovými bakteriemi na kořenech vikvovitých rostlin je ekologicky a ekonomicky preferovaným zdrojem dusíku pro zemědělské systémy. Proto byla vyvinuta linie hrachu izogenní s českou exportní odrůdou "Bohatýr", kteráumožňuje stanovení přínosu symbiotické fixace dusíku k tvorbě výnosu pouhým porovnáním dvou pokusných ploch (diferenční metodou), neboť vyvinutá linie tvoří pouze neúčinné symbiotické hlízky. V rámci hledání vhodné mutace byla generována sada dalších symbiotických mutantů hrachu, která představuje šestou sadu linií tohoto typu na světě (dřívější kolekce získány pracovišti v Holandsku, USA, Francii, Dánsku, Rusku)
