Expression of the phenol hydroxylase gene in modified phenol-degrading Rhodococcus erythropolis strains was analyzed. In the cells of Rhodococcus erythropolis strain harboring the multcopy recombinant plasmid carrying the cloned phe genes, the phenol hydroxylase activity was found to be 10-fold higher than in the wild-type strain
