    Continuing interest in the development of liquid-liquid extraction and biomedicinal applications of [(1,2-C2B9H11)-3-Co]- anion (1), studied systematically in collaboration with other Groups, prompted us to explore the scope and limitations to create molecular systems containing several hydrophobic anions covalently bound together by simple organic bridging moieties or pre-organized on various supramolecular platforms.
