Measuring Unsteady Axial Velocity of Fibres and Threads
Original language description
To measure axial motions of fibres and threads is difficult. The described fluidic sensor uses colliding air jets through which the fibre passes axially, accelerating one of them while slowing down the opposite jet. Output signal is the pressure difference in collectors surrounding the collision stagnation point. The design successfully tested is described in detail. Surprisingly, performed computations discovered that the sensor actually operates in a manner not in complete agreement with the originalidea upon which was based design of the laboratory model.
