Transport of a passive scalar across a protective wall-jet in a pipe. Part I: Data acquisition
Original language description
A wall-jet of a different gas is blown along the inner surfaceof a pipe to prevent a contact between the main central flow and the pipe wall. Motivated by problems in measuring radioactivity, the results are also useful for transport of heat from the central air flow towards cool pipe wall, across the protective cool air wall-jet. This is a first part, discussing the experiment (including the probes specially made for the task) and the character of the temperature and flow fields evaluated from measuredprofiles. In parallel, the problem was investigated by FLUENT computations.
