Lamb wave interaction with simulated defects, finite element modeling

Result description

Contribution deals with finite element (FE) modeling of Lamb wave interaction with simulated defects. The FE modeling investigations is undertaken to predict the behavior of symmetric and antisymmetric Lamb waves to idealised defects. The goal of these simulations is to characterise of the sensitivity of Lamb wave defect interactions taking into account the wave mode, mode order and frequency. The straight sided notches in steel plates model the common types of defects. The results of FE studies are analysed using the 2D-FT method.
