Original language description
In this contribution, the Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) is tested and mutually compared with the Lagrangian based Finite Element Method (FEM) in one- and two-dimensional elastic wave propagation problems. The special attention is paid to study accuracy andperformance of the numerical solution of stress discontinuity and sharp wavefront propagation through elastic media. Two benchmark tests are considered as a bar under shock force loading and, further, a symmetric impact problem of infinite thick plates.
