Analysis of Fault Tolerance of Five-Phase Induction Machine with Various Configurations of Stator Winding
Original language description
The paper is aimed at the analysis of operation of a five-phase induction machine with one phase winding open. It shows different properties of a machine in emergency operation with the stator winding in star, pentagon and pentacle configurations. The currents and torques are determined by means of a developed numerical model. In the paper, the properties of a five-phase machine and a three-phase machine are compared. The optimal way of connecting the stator winding with a feeding source is proposed, sothat the machine can continue in emergency operation with a minimal reduction of its power output compared to the operation before a fault.
