Measurement of the charge and mass deformation of Mg-30, Mg-32 by inelastic scattering on Pb-208 and C-12.
Original language description
The charge and mass deformation parameters of the neutron-rich isotopes Mg-30, Mg-32 have been extracted from inelastic scattering at 32 A MeV on Pb-208 and C-12 targets. The measured inelastic cross sections for the first 2(+) states were compared to coupled-channels calculations, which take into account the feeding from higher excited states. In the framework of the rotational model the charge and mass deformations are identical and large (betasimilar to 0.5-0.6) for both isotopes.
