Gamma Spectroscopy of C and O Neutron Drip-Line Nuclei.
Original language description
In-beam .tau.-spectroscopy technique associated with fragmentation reactions of radioactive beams have been recently used at GANIL in order to study the last bound carbon and oxygen isotopes and neighboring nuclei. A secondary beam mainly composed from .sup.26./sub.Ne, .sup.29,30./sup.Mg, .sup.27,28./sup.Na fragments from the fragmentation of a primary .sup.36./sup.S beam on a thick carbon target has been produced. This secondary beam has been sent to an active plastic scintillator target in order to induce secondary fragmentation reactions and produce very neutron-rich C, N, and O nuclei. The plastic scintillator target was surrounded by a 4.pi. gamma-array made of 74 BaF.sub.2 detectors and 4 Ge Clover detectors. Gamma spectra have been obtained in coincidence with a number of very neutron rich carbon and oxygen isotopes. Some of the results on the .tau.-spectroscopy of these nuclei, known as neutron halo nuclei, will be presented and discussed.
