Role of scission and cross-linking in latent track formation in polymers.
Original language description
Simple model of the radial structure of latent tracks created by energetic heavy ions in polymers is used for description of observed etching phenomena. It is shown that even under extremely simplified assumptions on the creation of transient degradationproducts and their chemical reactions leading to final low-mass fragments and cross-linked structures can explain reasonably observed radial etch rates.
