Poly(amino acids) and ester-amide copolymers: Tailor-made biodegradable polymers.

  • Original language description

Synthesis and properties of biodegradable polymers based on alpha-amino acid and alpha hydroxy acid monomers are reviewed. The relationships between the structure of poly(amino acid)s and the rate and specificity of their degradation , as well the feasibility of using poly(amino acid)s and ester-amide copolymers for prepration of biodegradable hydrogels and functional block copolymers are discussed.
