Atom transfer radical polymerization grafting of highly functionalized polystyrene and poly(4-methylstyrene) macroinitiators with tert-butyl acrylate.
Original language description
In-chain functionalized polystyrene-type macroinitiators with molecular weight 4 - 7.10e3, bearing alkyl bromide initiating groups on 40% of aromatic rings, served for atom transfer radical polymerization grafting by tert-butyl acrylate. Densely graftedmonodisperse poly(styrene-graft-tert.butyl acrylate)s were obtained in a high yield, with molecular weights close to theoretical values. Some kinetic data on the grafting as well as 1H NMR spectra of synthesized copolymers are given.
