    Poly(acryl amide) films with grafting density gradient on silica substrate were prepared by ATRP initiated with the initiator anchored on the silica (grafting from). Using the grafting density gradient geometry, the mushroom-to-brush transition can be accessed on a single sample. This transition was detected by monitoring the dependence of the thickness of the grafted film using ellipsometry in a good solvent and by wettability experiments.
