    ATRP of MMA, initiated with 1,3-bis(1-methyl-1-[(2,2,2-trichloroethoxy)carbonylamino] ethyl)benzene and catalyzed with CuCl in the presence of 2,2´-bipyridine is non-controlled process, whereas in the presence of hexamethyltriethylenetetramine, polymerization is controlled, offering polymers with narrow MWDs. The trichloromethyl groups of the initiator behave as monofunctional so that .alpha.,.omega.-dichloroPMMA is formed. This was used as bifunctional macroinitiator of ATRP of tert-butyl acrylate, catalyzed with CuCl in the presence of pentamethyldiethylenetetramine and metallic Cu. Triblock copolymers are formed in this way with lengths of the blocks controllable in a wide range.

    ATRP MMA, iniciovaná 1,3-bis(1-methyl-1-[(2,2,2-trichloroethoxy)carbonylamino]ethyl) benzenem a katalyzovaná CuCl probíhá v přítomnosti 2,2´-bipyridinu nekontrolovaně, zatímco v přítomnosti hexamethyltriethylenetetraminu jako řízená polymerizace, poskytující polymery s úzkou MWD. Trichloromethylové skupiny iniciátoru se chovají jako monofunkční, takže vzniká .alpha.,.omega.-dichloroPMMA. Ten byl použit jako bifunkční makroiniciátor pro ATRP tert-butyl akrylátu, katalyzované CuCl v přítomnosti pentamethyldiethylene tetraminu a kovové Cu. Vznikají tak triblokové kopolymery s délkami bloků regulovatelnými v širokém rozmezí.
