    This article reviews the progress in the development of practical table-top soft x-ray based on the capillary discharge.Especially results of the last decade proved that discharge created plasmas in capillaries are sufficiently uniform to allow for softx-ray amplication.Compact fast capillary discharges have been show to succesfully concentrate large amounts of electrically stored.
