Integrated parametric study of hybrid-stabilized argon-water arc under subsonic and supersonic regimes
Original language description
The paper presents numerical simulation of temperature and flow fields in the discharge and near outlet regions of the hybrid argon-water stabilized electric arc. Calculations for 300-600 A and high argon mass flow rates reveal transition from a transonic plasma flow for 400 A to a supersonic one for 600 A with the maximum Mach number of 1.6. Comparison with available experimental temperature and velocity profiles show very good agreement.
