Induction of lipid peroxidation in Escherichia coli in liquid after plasma treatment(COST TD1208 )
Original language description
Předneseno na:COST TD1208 Annual meeting, ?Electrical discharges with liquids for future applications",Lisabon, 10-13.03.2014, Non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma has been widely studied for bio-decontamination properties [1]. Plasma produces variouschemical and physical processes which contribute to inactivation or death of bacteria. The processes potentially involved in plasma biodecontamination are heat, electric field, UV radiation, and direct chemical reactions of neutral reactive species and interactions of charged particles with cellular components [2].However, the mechanisms of inactivation caused by plasma are not fully understood because of the complexity of both the plasma and biological systems. Our aim was to investigate the plasma-induced inactivation of Escherichia coli in liquid with a particular emphasis on the mechanism by which the plasma affects cell membrane integrity. The atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) generated in direct contact with the bacterial
