An important factor in pro-inflammatory conditions associated with obesity in polarization of macrophages, which accumulates in adipose tissue. Macrophages are heterogeneous cell population with functional variability dependent on the polarization state.Adipose tissue macrophages may be present in different activation status, know as M1 and M2.
