This chapter deals with the language of computer role-playing games (CRPGs) from the point of view of Speech Act theory. It contains a two-phase analysis of the dialogues in CRPGs, the former phase consisting of a quantitative general analysis of dialogues and the latter of a speech act analysis aiming to describe prevailent models of communication between the protagonist and other characters of CRPGs.
