Text length and the lambda frequency structure of the text
Original language description
The study revealed the evident dependence of the lambda indicator on text length. Consequently, this finding undermines the main methodological advantage of the lambda measurement and casts doubt upon many of the results presented previous studies. However, the specific relation-ship between lambda and the text length allows to determine the interval of the text length in which the lambda measurement is meaningful and can be used for original purposes. Moreover, this determination is connected to theoretical reasoning which may be enhanced by psycholinguistic or cognitive explanations.
