Ukrainian art. The past and present of scientific research

  • Original language description

We do not know much about Ukrainian art, outside Ukraine, only Poles and Romanian shad conducted significant scientific research before the war of 2022, but most often in the context of artistic ties between nations. After the fall of communism, Ukrainians still had to fight for their place in world science, despite the fact that they built three independent research centres abroad after the war (Ukrainian Catholic University in Rome; Ukrainian Research Institute, Harvard University; Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, University of Edmonton). However, these centres focused on intellectual development within Ukraine, and many specialists moved to Lviv and Kyiv. Pre-war magazines were revisited again, such as Записки Наукового товариства імені Шевченка, published before the II war in Lviv, during the communist era in Rome, the society was re-published in the main city of western Ukraine.
