Advances in computer technology make possible a transition from current structural reliability assessment methods (such as the Partial Factors Method, or PFM) to probabilistic methods using the simulation technique. This study focuses attention on the reliability assessment of steel structures containing semi-rigid joints. Pilot studies showing the differences between the reliability assessment based on the PFM method and on the Simulation Based Reliability Assessment method are specified and discussed
