An overview of various approaches to evaluation of aggregate grains morphology using methods of image processing and analysis is presented in the paper. Advantages and limits of the methods are discussed. The procedure of grain image acquisition and quantitative image analysis used at Faculty of Civil Engineering VŠB - TU Ostrava and Institute of Geonics ASCR, v.v.i. is described. A part of results of morphological analysis carried out on crushed aggregate grains of three different rock types is also presented.
