Implementation of EN 1992-1-1 and Eurocodes generally brings forth for designers not only changes in design procedures but also the question of existing structures assessment. Statics analysis before reconstruction should be carried out according to valid codes. Existing structures often do not satisfy the load bearing limit state with regard to higher structural safety according to Eurokodes. Problematic are especially structures designed in economical way according to formerly valid codes ČSN, e.g. prefab buildings. Definite solution is not even in ISO 13822 - Assessment of existing structures. In the paper the assessment of existing prefab structure before reconstruction is analysed, with the study of dead and live load action effect and structuralload bearing capacity.
