    Assessment of internal forces in circle tunnel resulted from seismic load using finite elements method

    A full three-dimensional (3D) numerical model using the finite element software program MIDAS GTS NX is established to investigate the tunnel's simulation in order to highlight the effect of earthquake load and elements of construction procedure on the behaviour of segmental tunnel lining. The effect of each earthquake wave has a different effect on tunnel stability depending on type of wave. It is important noticing that shallow tunnels suffer higher damage compared to deep structures. During the earthquake the shallow tunnels suffer larger deformations and subsequently higher stresses. (G. Lanzano, et al). This study presents the effect of earthquake load for circle tunnel lining, comparison in statics for different tunnels diameter and different rock types (soft, moderately and hard rock) under the same earthquake condition.
