Dynamic load due to the tram in urban area

  • Original language description

Vehicular traffic in major cities is the prevailing means of personal transport today. Nonetheless urban public transport has become more important. Its main advantage is the number of simultaneously transported people. This not only reduces the amount of greenhouse gases emitted, but also puts fewer passenger cars on the roads. The use of public transport is thus ecological and improves the flow of traffic in major cities. Metropolises today utilize comprehensive urban transport systems which combine metro, trams, trolleybuses and buses. In smaller cities, where the cost of building a subway is uneconomical, the main means of transport become trams. Ostrava is also an example of such a city. The tram, as each rail vehicle, generates vibrations in the surrounding rock mass that are significantly larger than those due to the passage of motor vehicles. This article deals with the seismic measurement and analysis of vibrations from passing trams across the city with different geological structure of the subsoil and dynamic influence of the tram on the surrounding buildings. The results are presented in the attenuation curves form of different geological structure and frequency spectrums as well.
