3D Numerical Modelling of Reinforced Concrete Beam Without Shear Reinforcement

  • Original language description

The paper deals with 3D nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete small structural element. The aim of the paper is to verify the appositeness of the 3D computational model for a selected task of a reinforced concrete beam without shear reinforcement. Specifically, the calculation is focused on the comparison of the mechanism of beam failure and load-bearing capacity. Detailed documented experiments are a background for numerical modelling, including laboratory tests of mechanical characteristics of concrete. The default input parameters are concrete compressive strength, modulus of elasticity and split tensile strength. Fracture energy is calculated according to common recommendations. For numerical modelling of concrete fracture-plastic material model is used. The nonlinear solution uses the Newton-Raphson method with load applied with deformation.
