    The goal of this contribution is to assess risks of operating large gasholders for combustion gases that contain a significant amount of hazardous carbon monoxide. These facilities are subject to Seveso II Directive, and for this reason it is necessary to prepare safety reports on them. In the Ostrava-City area 6 large gasholders are situated in 4 industrial establishments. Intensive industrial activities are characteristic of this area that has been from the historical point of view associated with residential areas.
