The article summarises results of quantitative risk assessment for the operation of 6 large gasholders in the area of great industrial agglomeration in the Czech Republic. Gasholders for storing combustion gases contain significant amounts of dangerous substances, especially of carbon monoxide and hydrogen. That is why safety reports on these gasholders were prepared in the framework of implementation of the SEVESO II Directive. Although gasholders have gradually been shut down in the world, they stillbring the heavy industry in the area of the city of Ostrava a considerable financial saving.

Článek shrnuje výsledky kvantitativního hodnocení rizik provozování 6 velkých plynojemů na území velké průmyslové aglomerace v České republice. V rámci implementace SEVESO II direktivy byly pro tyto plynojemy zpracovány bezpečnostní zprávy, protože plynojemy na topné plyny obsahují značné množství nebezpečných látek, především oxidu uhelnatého a vodíku. Přestože ve světě jsou plynojemy postupně odstavovány z provozu, těžkému průmyslu na území města Ostravy stále přinášejí velké finanční úspory.
