Critical Infrastructure and Integrated Protection
Original language description
Traditionally, the society is dependent on the various services and hence on the infrastructures that provide these services. With growing urbanization, some of these infrastructures, which are vital to the society, have begun to be criticized. At present, critical infrastructure is a very complex and increasingly interconnected system that must be resilient on almost every-day anthropogenic and naturogenic threats. Consequently, new security measures are being continuously developed to ensure adequate protection of critical infrastructure. The monography that you get in your hands is conceived in five separate but very tight chapters. The introductory part presents basic strategic documents and approaches to critical infrastructure protection in the European Union. It then characterizes the security environment and its impact on critical infrastructure. Major chapters are critical infrastructure risks and security analysis of critical infrastructure elements. The main part of the book is the chapter describing an integrated security system that provides critical infrastructure protection. Here the focus is mainly on technical security devices (mechanical barriers and alarm systems), physical protection and organizational and regime measures.
