The paper presents a possible use the SMA artificial muscles in service robots as a simple yet powerful device for providing a pulling force. From this point of view a basic division with description of these muscles is carried out and a possibility of basic practical application is shown. A more detailed attention in paid to the design of walking robot, biorobotic joint arms and anthropomorphic grippers with practical application in building.
