Assessment of Vibration Dampers Efficiency Based on Vibration and Acoustic Measurements
Original language description
A research on vibration dampers efficiency was performed with the aim to compare various types of railway wheel dampers. To simulate a railway wheel, a simplified model was used. Ten various dampers were tested with this model. They differed in dimensions and material used. Two types of measurements were performed both for the model without damper and for all of the ten configurations for model with damper: modal tests and acoustic pressure level measurements. Frequency range from 0 to 1600 Hz has beenused, the measured system was excited using random noise excitation. Averaged autospectra were obtained from both vibration and noise measurements and one third octave analysis was performed. For the tested dampers it was found out, that the inner diameter of the damper has greater influence on the damper's efficiency than the material it is made from.
