The contact fatigue of materials reses at many cases of process loading of different parts. The contact or railway wheel with rail, the cotnact of working rolls of rolling mill with rolling stock or back up roll, the gear wheel engagemnet - there are some examples of contact loading and contact fatigue. The sizeable attention is needed to pay to these problems both theoretical and experimental. The new test equipment was designed and putted into operation on the department of elasiticty and strength ofmaterials VŠB-TU Ostrava. It enabled to gain the experimental results for the research of contact fatigue of different materials at different conditions of loading

Kontaktní únava materiálu je příčinou mnoha poruch součástí. Příkladem jsou kontakt železničního kola s kolejnicí, pracovních válců s materiálem a s opěrnými válci u válcovacích stolic, ozubených kol a j. Na Katedře pružnosti a pevnosti VŠB-TU Ostrava bylo uvedeno do provozu nové experimentální zařízení pro výzkum kontaktní únavy, některé výsledky jsou obsahem předloženého článku.
